We might think we live in modern times. We might have even convinced ourselves of it, with our fancy gadgets and computer equipment.
But as far as economic models go, I contend we are still pretty medieval.
We are bound to our lords, just like during medieval times. Sure, you can try to change lords, and move to another corporate tower, but you will still be a vassal.
From dictionary.com: Vassal: (in the feudal system) a person granted the use of land, in return for rendering homage, fealty, and usually military service or its equivalent to a lord or other superior; feudal tenant.
Your fealty to your corporate lords is expected. Don't get caught criticizing them anywhere, or you will be thrown out of the walled city (the corporate towner), on to the streets, where the crazies live, and people regularly get killed.
Sure, there are exceptions to every rule. Some people today still live Free, but by my definition of Free, I think that number has got to be dwindling.
What do you think Newsvine? Are you a vassal to a corporate lord?
