We are killing people all over the globe with semi-autonomous killing machines. Sure, there is a kid in a trailer somewhere, holding what is essentially a game controller, letting the hellfire missiles go--but the machines are getting more and more autonomous. Recently the Pentagon issued a memo instructing drone manufacturers to make sure, as they built the next generation of even more autonomous killing machines, that a human being always had to have the kill switch decision, not the machine.
Meanwhile, the drones are coming home. Pretty soon they will be all over our neighborhoods, buzzing us, watching us, recording us, monitoring us. Google will I am sure launch a bunch, to collect ever more search data.
And it is just a matter of time before the machine start killing people. At first these will just be accidents. An inexperienced military contractor will crash one into someone's house, killing them. It will all be an accident. Then the next accident the person killed will be someone like Andrew Breitbart--someone the political establishment doesn't like. It will be an accident. Or maybe the guy's TV will just blow up for some unknown reason. In any event, we have the world's deadliest military, intent on killing people. I can't see how this doesn't end badly for us, with domestic strikes against the unpopular starting, if they haven't already.
