It seems the media is pretty certain the Republicans will suffer the most if we go over the cliff. They have already written the stories. The House Republicans went down fighting for the rich, who most Americans don't give a darn about. So, they say, it is the Republicans who will suffer the most. Permanent minority party. Doomed to lose the house. Doomed generally.

But the media may have this one wrong. Obama is refusing to negotiate. He is demanding it to have it purely his way. Sure, he just won an election, but so did a lot of House Republicans. I didn't vote for higher taxes and no spending cuts for 10+ years, I can tell you that.

I rejoice in the House Republicans just saying NO. I don't think they will suffer. In fact, I think it will be the Democrats who suffer the most. They are the broken record party in American politics. They only know how to say one thing: "Let's raise taxes." Americans will be really sick of politicians who say that after we all start paying more.
